SHAVING - POST CARE
Every effort is made to prevent nicks and irritation but unfortunately it may happen. Shaving may cause the skin to become irritated and sensitive for a few days and then resolve itself.
Please watch for excessive scratching as the skin may easily be broken when nails are newly trimmed.
A strong word of caution regarding excessive head shaking; matts may cause circulation in the capillaries at the surface of the ears to become constricted thereby reducing blood flow. When the ear is freed from matts, circulation suddenly returns with a sensation similar to pins and needles. When this causes a dog to shake it's head those capillaries may break causing a hematoma.
It is imperative to seek veterinary care if bruising or swelling appears.
